Post-Repair Care: How to Keep Your Car Looking New
The financial side of an accident can be confusing. “Who pays?” and “When do I pay?” are the top questions we hear. Here is a simple guide to navigating the costs at Tom Kadlec Auto Body.
1. How do I care for my vehicle after paint work? For the first 30 to 60 days:
- Wash by hand with cool water and a mild car wash solution.
- Avoid commercial car washes with stiff brushes or high-pressure jets.
- Do not wax or polish the vehicle. The paint needs time to fully “cure” and breathe. Waxing too soon can trap solvents and dull the finish.
- Avoid parking under trees (sap/birds) or in direct, intense sunlight for long periods if possible.
2. Will my vehicle look the same as before the accident? Our goal is for it to look pre-accident condition—or better! With our computerized color matching and professional detailing, most customers cannot tell where the damage was.
3. What should I do if I notice an issue after the repair? Please call us immediately at (507) 280-2221. Whether it’s a rattle, a wind noise, or a paint imperfection, we want to know. Because of our Lifetime Warranty, we will bring you back in and make it right at no cost to you.
